Duration of training: 3 years
Learning locations: training company and vocational school
School subjects: chemistry, physics, mathematics, handicrafts
School-leaving certificate: Intermediate school-leaving certificate or lower secondary school
What do surface coaters do?
Surface coaters coat and refine metal and plastic surfaces using surface techniques such as electroplating, hot-dip galvanizing, anodizing (anodizing) and other chemical, electrochemical, electrical and physical processes. To do this, they prepare the workpieces to be coated and the coating solutions.
They then apply the coatings in electroplating baths or in vacuum coating systems, for example.
Finally, they check the workpieces and treat them if necessary. The tanks and containers used are cleaned and chemicals and electrolytic solutions are disposed of properly.
Surface coaters also service and maintain the systems.
